Acceptable use Policies
Acceptable Use
All traffic originating from an allcom.net subscriber
site, including dial-up and other connections shall be for purposes
of: research, education, state, local, national government affairs,
economic development, public service, conducting business affairs,
other personal uses including recreation.
Unacceptable Use
It is not acceptable to use allcom.net so as to interfere
with or disrupt network users, services or equipment. Such interference
includes, but is not limited to: distribution of unsolicited advertising,
propagation of computer worms or viruses and using the network
to make unauthorized entry to other computational, informational
or communications devices or resources.
Prohibited Activity.
Attempts to compromise system and/or network security - Programs
such as packet sniffers, password crack programs, and similar
utilities found to be running from a user's account are prohibited.
This also includes attempts to hack into non-allcom systems
Sharing of accounts - Sharing of a user's account with another
party for purposes of avoiding payment for a second account is
strictly prohibited.
Excessive use of system resources - This primarily prohibits
the continued usage of a dial-up port to simulate a dedicated
connection for the user's home system. Dial-up accounts are designed
to provide on-demand access for accountholders, not dedicated
connections.
E-Mail abuse - E-mail abuse typically comes in one of three forms;
the transfer of a message to unsolicited individuals, the sending
of harassing and/or threatening messages to other users, and the
forging of e-mail addresses so as to make the e-mail appear to
be from another user.
Pirated software - Pirated software is defined as the illegal
exchange of software via the Internet for purposes of avoiding
the purchase of said software by the individuals involved. This
includes most commercial applications such as Adobe Photoshop,
Illustrator, etc. Such activities are prohibited by Federal law
and are thus not allowed in any form on allcom.net. Such prohibition
also includes the unauthorized copying of copyrighted material
including, but not limited to, digitization and distribution of
photgraphs from magazines, books, or other copyrighted sources
and copyrighted software. The exportation of software or technical
information in violation of U.S. export control law is strictly
prohibited.
Account holders shall not use allcom.net as the means to stalk
others or to post, transmit, or originate any unlawful, threatening,
abusive, hateful, defamatory, obscene, or pornographic communication,
or any communication where the message, or its transmission or
distribution, would constitute or would encourage conduct that
would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability,
or otherwise violate any local, state, national, or international
law.
Allcom.Net shall have broad authority to interpret and apply
these Acceptable Use Policies.
Allcom.Net also shall be entitled to modify or amend these policies
at any time.

Web Page Setup and Tips
Your web address is: http://www.allcom.net/~username
- Webpages end with .htm or .html extensions
- Internet graphics/pictures end with a .jpg or .gif extension
- To change the extension or size of a picture use a graphic
manipulation program like lviewpro
- The home page of your website should be named index.html
- All filenames should be named in all lowercase and CAN NOT
CONTAIN SPACES OR SYMBOLS
- The code used to create webpages is called HTML. HTML is a
very easy code to learn. You can also use an HTML editor like
Netscape Composer or Frontpage to create your webpages. These
editors work with a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) format
and create the code for you.
- To get the webpages over to our server you need a FTP (File
Transfer Protocol) program. I highly recommend ws_ftp. Frontpage
users do not need a FTP program.
