Not all phone lines are capable of making connections above 28.8. The telephone network was not originally designed to handle data at such speeds. Most telephone companies, including Allendale Communications, can only guarantee that your phone line will provide quality voice service. Telephone companies are not obligated to improve the phone lines just so your high speed modem will work. For this reason, Allcom.net Internet Service can't guarantee that you will obtain speeds above 28.8K.
We now have US Robotics 56K v.90 modems at our end. This means that if you have a modem which is v.90 compatible, then you will probably notice an increase in speed. Average connect speeds are between 33.6K and 45K.
