I want to be able to click on Netscape and have the dialer automatically pop up, how do I do this?
To activate the auto dialer in Windows 95 or Windows 98 so the computer dials to the Internet automatically when a person double clicks on Netscape or Internet Explorer, do the following:
- Click on Start
- Click on Settings
- Click on Control Panel
- Double click on Internet or Internet Options
Note: If you do not have an Internet button, then you can't setup your machine to auto dial.
- There are several different versions of the connection window, here are the main ones:
- #1 - Check Auto Dial
- #2 - Check Always Dial My Default Connection
- #3 - Check Connect to the Internet using a modem
No matter which one of the above you might have, make sure the altelco dialer is set as the default dial-up. On some of these options you might have to click on a Settings or More Options button.
- Click on Apply
- Click on OK
Some Windows computers have a bug in them which will not leave the auto dial button checked. In this case, you will have to create a shortcut of the dialer on your desktop. Use the shortcut of dialer to connect to the Internet and then click on the web browser.
Return to Installation Page.
