After 5 minutes the disconnect if idle screen appears. How do I make it go away permanently?
Directions for disconnect if idle in Control Panel

  1. Click on Start
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Click on Control Panel
  4. Double click on Internet or Internet Options
  5. Click on Connections
  6. Click on Settings or More Options
  7. Make sure Disconnect If Idle is unchecked
  8. Click on OK
  9. Click on OK
  10. Close the Control Panel

Directions for disconnect if idle in Dialer
  1. Double click on My Computer
  2. Double click on Dial-up Networking
  3. Single clcik on altelco dialer
  4. Click on File (from the menu)
  5. Click on Properties (from the drop-down menu)
  6. Click on Configure
  7. Click on Connection
  8. Make sure Disconnect If Idle is unchecked
  9. Click on OK
  10. Click on OK
  11. Close any open windows

On about 2% of the computers we have seen, the disconnect if idle box rechecks itself when the computer is turned off and back on. I recommend you are not connected to the Internet when you follow these directions.
